DROP BODY FAT AND GET IN BETTER SHAPE

Years ago, I heard a great response to a common question from legendary strength coach Mike Boyle.  Mike had a friend ask him, “I need to lose weight and get in shape.”  He told his friend to walk 15 minutes out as far as you can, and 15 minutes back.  Do this everyday.  Try to go further each time and after a month make that 30-minute walk, 45 minutes.  His friend responded, “really, that’s it?”  Mike responded, “it’s simple, but not easy.”  That concept stuck in my head, and years later more and more professionals are telling their clients to add in some walking to their program.  Most of us live very sedentary lives and struggle to reach 7000 steps, let alone 10,000 steps per day.  As simple as it sounds, walking 30-45 minutes a day will improve your recovery, aerobic fitness, joint health (for most), body composition, mental well-being, and energy.  There are so many benefits to strength training, that I’m not saying this is all you must do, but the concept is to add some fuel to the fire.  Try adding a 30-minute walk to your program, everyday and see what happens.  It’s simple, but not easy.
